Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, lying 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he lost control at Turn Four soon after starting.
The Japanese slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's car P3, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
